Christina Zarowsky works with engaged scholars, civil society, and decision makers applying evidence for health and social justice: social determinants of health (special interest in migration), health policy and systems, priority conditions including HIV and chronic disease, and developing the next generation of  global health scholars. She is passionate about trans-disciplinarity and holds a BSc (Biology/Toronto), MD (McMaster), MPH (International Health/Harvard), and PhD (Anthropology/McGill). During 1986-2009 Christina was a general practitioner in rural and northern Canada. During 2001-2009 she was head of research for health equity at IDRC and founding co-lead of GHRI. During 2009-2014 she was at the University of Western Cape, South Africa. From 2014 she is Director, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, ESPUM. She has served on editorial boards (including Canadian Journal of Public Health) and was co-chair of the 4th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research.
